Drying is important for the proper preparation of materials prior to their pelleting and briquetting. Drying is essential for quality pelleting and briquetting. Sawdust and other kinds of biomass need to be dried. Then pelleting and briquetting achieves quality results.

Process:

Highly valuable material for the production of fuel can be made by drying the waste material. Hot air is driven into the dryer where the material is dried by the air circulation. Sawdust is poured or sucked into the entrance of the drying zone and due to the whirling hot air the dried material is dehumidified. The material is dried to under 12% of volume humidity. The resultant material is suitable for the production of pellets or briquettes.

Feed Stock:

Length max. 5 mm, diameter max. 3 mm, humidity min. 12% .

Output Material:

Material with humidity of less than 12%.

Capacity:

It depends to a large extent on the nature of the material to be processed.

Working Principles:

The body of the dryer consists of two parts; tubes of larger and smaller diametres. In the tube with the larger diametre the material decelerates and the drying is more intensive. Due to the size reduction the speed of the movement of the material increases and in this manner the processed material progresses onwards to the next drying zone. In the next drying zone this cycle is repeated until the transporting ventilator moves the dry material to the silo. This manner of drying is suitable for materials such as sawdust, frass, ground wheat-straw, grain, stalks etc. The dryer is suitable for the drying of wet grain or wool.

Boiler:

Suitable fuels for the boiler are wood waste, coal etc.
